Interested in internal communications and storytelling? Discuss issues, find answers and challenge thoughts...all are welcome!

Welcome!

I have created this Network to provide people with an interest in internal communications (and you can define that pretty much as you like) and corporate storytelling to share ideas and stories, raise issues, seek advice and explore!

I opened our doors so to speak on February 29, 2008 - a big leap for leap year....

The network is open to all - regardless of your role at work and I am hopeful we get a great mix of people representing communications, HR, managers and leaders, employees young and old and ...well, you get the point!

Welcome aboard...and spread the word!

Cheers, Ken

Engagement in Tough Economic Times PLUS over 300 engagement tips

Hi All

As most of you know last year Nicky and I opted to reorganize our firm so each of us could really fiocus on what we loved the most. For me the journey was interesting to say the least. In many ways I took time away from everyday work (I did stay invovled with a few projects) relax and reocus. One of the main reasons for doing this was a need for time away to reenergixe. Another was the need to empty my head of all the stuff that accumulates over the years and try to make sense of it.

Wow....what an experience! I am so glad to be back in the saddle ful time and very much look forward to sharing my brain dump stuff with you over the coming weeks and months....let's get on with making change happen with engaged employees...it all begins with communications! Cheers, Ken

PS....I've posted a couple of new articles on my website (www.kenmilloy.com) and will be adding new and more indepth pieces over the coming days and weeks....don't forget to check them out.

Terrific: "Management 2.0: Collaboration In the Enterprise by Anthony Poncier

Terrific post (in English) by Anthony Poncier, from the French consulting firm IDRH which walks through a framework for understanding how collaboration can be structured within the enterprise. Comes with a nifty diagram of the enterprise as well. Great foundational thinking: http://poncier.org/blog/?p=1222…

We spend 42% of our time listening, yet 75% of oral communication is ignored or misunderstood

I receive a weekly newsletter from Kaizen Consulting. http://www.kaizenconsulting.com/ . Check out their website to sign up.

This week’s topic was on enrolling people with a view to doing business, a key component of which is listening.

As author Michael Walsh points out - we are not very good at listening.

In school we are taught to write, read and present, but not to listen. Our educational system and our workplaces give “power” to the person with the… Continue

Ten most common mistakes CEOs make in communicating strategy

It’s been six months of hard work, time and energy, the results are outstanding and you and your executive are looking forward to seeing your strategic plan implemented. Nine months down the road you are disappointed and frustrated. The new plan is not having the results you would like to see. Employees don’t seem to understand or care. It’s a great plan but it’s not getting any traction.

You are not alone. Seventy percent of change plans fail, not because they aren’t good, but… Continue
